Barra Grande

Barra Grande hydroelectric power plant, in Pelotas river, is located between the municipalities of Anita Garibaldi, Santa Catarina state, and Pinhal da Serra, Rio Grande do Sul state. Its first unit started its commercial operations in November 2005.

It was built by a consortium formed by CBA, which holds a 15% participation, and four other companies.

Its reservoir has a 5 km3 volume, the installed potency is of 708 MW and assured energy to CBA is of 500 thousand MWh/year.

The power plant operates with three Francis turbines and three generators.
