Barra

The hydroelectric power plant of Barra is located in the municipality of Tapiraí, some 120 kilometers from the city of São Paulo. Its construction was initiated in 1982 and concluded in 1986, when it commenced operating. It is the sixth hydroelectric constructed by CBA with utilization of the water of the Juquiá River for the generation of energy and the third in sequence along the river.

All the power plants along Juquiá River are inserted into the hydrographic valley of Ribeira do Iguape, with a capacity for average annual generation of 240 GWh. From the water level to the turbines, there is a 100.5 meters fall, along which the water flows through a 190 meters long metallic duct.

The power plant operates with a generator manufactured by Brown Boveriand and a Voith turbine. A 9,5 km transmition line connects the power plant to the CBA plant, in Alumínio.
